Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday attended the official reception for Heads of State and Heads of Government at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, China, where he met with several world leaders and dignitaries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the official reception for Heads of State and Government at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, China on Sunday, where he engaged with numerous global leaders and officials.
Upon arrival at the venue, PM Modi was welcomed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan. The Prime Minister exchanged cordial greetings with President Xi before participating in the traditional family photo session alongside other dignitaries, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and various heads of state.
During the reception, PM Modi held several bilateral interactions with leaders from different nations.
His first meeting was with Nepali Prime Minister KP Oli. Highlighting their discussion on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote: "Delighted to meet Nepal PM Mr. KP Oli in Tianjin. India's relations with Nepal are deep-rooted and very special."

PM Modi subsequently conversed with Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, emphasizing the mutual benefits of their development partnership. "Interacted with President Muizzu of Maldives on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Tianjin. India's developmental cooperation with Maldives is greatly beneficial for our people," PM Modi shared on X with an accompanying photograph.

The Prime Minister also met Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, reminiscing about his previous visit to Egypt. He noted: "Met PM Mostafa Madbouly of Egypt at the SCO Summit. Fondly recalled my Egypt visit a few years ago. India-Egypt friendship is scaling newer heights of progress!"

During the event, PM Modi interacted with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, expressing optimism about future bilateral opportunities: "Glad to have met President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus. In his meeting with Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, PM Modi emphasized strengthening ties: "Always a pleasure to interact with Mr. Emomali Rahmon, the President of Tajikistan. India's trade and cultural linkages are increasing and this is a wonderful sign."

Additionally, PM Modi engaged with Kazakhstan President Tokayev, highlighting cooperation in vital sectors: "Productive exchange of views with President Tokayev of Kazakhstan. Our nations are working closely in many key sectors, including energy, security, healthcare and pharma."

According to Xinhua, Chinese President Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan hosted a banquet in Tianjin for international guests attending the SCO Summit. This gathering provided leaders an informal setting to strengthen bilateral relations prior to the formal summit sessions.
The official SCO Summit program is scheduled to begin on the morning of September 1.
