— India in Ireland (Embassy of India, Dublin) (@IndiainIreland) August 1, 2025The advisory follows a violent assault on an Indian national in Tallaght, a southwestern suburb of Dublin, on July 26. On Wednesday, the Indian Embassy confirmed they were in contact with the victim and their family, offering all necessary assistance.
The Indian Embassy in Ireland posted on X, "Regarding the recent incident of physical attack on an Indian national that occurred in Tallaght, Dublin, the Embassy is in touch with the victim and his family. All required assistance is being provided. The Embassy is also in communication with the relevant Irish authorities regarding this matter."
An Garda Siochana, Ireland's national police and security service, has initiated an investigation after the man was violently assaulted and partially stripped by a group of attackers in Tallaght. The victim, a man in his 40s originally from India, sustained injuries after being severely beaten by a group of young men before bystanders intervened to help him. The attackers had also removed his trousers during the assault, according to The Irish Times.
Irish media reports suggest authorities are investigating the incident as a potential hate crime. The group allegedly made false accusations that the man had behaved inappropriately around children. These allegations were subsequently shared online, including by prominent far-right and anti-immigrant accounts.
Police officials confirmed the man was transported to Tallaght University Hospital with injuries and was later discharged. Investigators believe some individuals involved in the attack have previously carried out unprovoked assaults on foreign nationals in the Tallaght area.
Paul Murphy, a People Before Profit TD for the region, condemned the attack, stating it was "horrifying to see a vicious attack like this happen in our neighbourhood."
He added, "Responsibility lies not just with those who perpetrated the violence but also with those who have been spreading racist lies. The community is really shocked and outraged and will stand together against violence, hate and division".
