New Delhi:
Christina Scott, the Deputy British High Commissioner to India, emphasized that the UK-India relationship is set to expand significantly under the India-UK Vision 2035 roadmap. This framework was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer during PM Modi's recent UK visit last week.
In her conversation with ANI on Tuesday, Scott expressed optimism about the initiative, which aims to cultivate a more comprehensive partnership between the two countries.
"We're entering an incredibly exciting phase in the UK-India relationship. The enthusiasm and optimism expressed by both Prime Ministers last week is truly encouraging, and I'm confident that under Vision 2035, our relationship will become even bigger, broader and deeper," she remarked.
The India-UK Vision 2035 confirms both nations' joint commitment to maximizing their revitalized partnership's potential. It highlights their determination to collaborate for mutual development and prosperity, while working to build a prosperous, secure, and sustainable world amid rapid global transformations.
Scott also emphasized the importance of PM Modi's UK visit, particularly noting the significance of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries.
She further pointed out that the Vision 2035 document highlighted education as a key focus area, demonstrating both nations' strong commitment to improving educational opportunities for students in both India and the UK.
"We were thrilled to welcome Prime Minister Modi to the United Kingdom last week. His visit had one major purpose: to sign the Free Trade Agreement between our nations. Furthermore, the Prime Ministers launched Vision 2035, a document outlining our collaborative areas, with education being one of five highlighted sectors. This reflects the high level of ambition both governments have to work together to improve learning opportunities for students everywhere, whether in the UK or India," she added.
According to the "India-UK Vision 2035," the two countries will build on their strong foundations to establish an intellectual partnership responsive to emerging opportunities and technological advancements. This partnership will strengthen collaboration in education and research, creating a skilled and forward-looking talent pool equipped to address global challenges and contribute to a secure and sustainable future for all.
