Earlier that day, the India-UK Free Trade Agreement was officially signed during Prime Minister Modi's UK visit, where he met with Prime Minister Starmer. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and his British counterpart Jonathan Reynold formalized the agreement.
Beyond their tea engagement, the prime ministers also spent time with players from the Buckinghamshire Street Cricket Hubs. PM Modi shared this interaction on X, noting that "India and the UK are connected by a shared passion for cricket" and that sport enhances "people-to-people ties between our nations."
Modi mentioned gifting the players a cricket bat bearing signatures from India's T20 World Cup-winning team.
The leaders also viewed a displayed Premier League trophy, with PM Modi sharing photos on social media stating, "Football is widely admired among India's youth and several football clubs based in the UK are very popular in India."

PM Starmer described the trade agreement as "the most significant deal the UK has signed since leaving the EU," highlighting the "unique bonds of history, family and culture" that the UK shares with India. PM Modi characterized the agreement as "a blueprint for our shared prosperity."
This marks PM Modi's fourth visit to the United Kingdom since taking office in 2014.
