PM Modi Conferred With Ghana's National Honour, A Look At Other Prominent Awardees

Prominent awardees of the Order of the Star of Ghana, which was awarded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, was also bestowed upon several noted personalities. The award was presented by Ghana's President, John Dramani Mahama.

Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude to Ghana's people and government for the special recognition bestowed upon him.

The Order of the Star of Ghana, recently awarded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has previously honored various distinguished individuals throughout its prestigious history.
Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama presented the award to PM Modi on Wednesday, acknowledging his "distinguished" statesmanship and significant global leadership impact, according to an official statement from the Ministry of External Affairs.
Notable past recipients of this prestigious honor include Queen Elizabeth II (2007), Nelson Mandela, former South African President (1998), Kofi Annan, former United Nations Secretary-General (2000), Côte d'Ivoire President Alassane Ouattara (2017), King Charles III, who received it as Prince of Wales in 2018, Morocco's King Mohammed VI (2017), and Giorgio Napolitano, former Italian President (2006).
Upon receiving the award, Prime Minister Modi accepted it on behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, dedicating the honor to Indian youth aspirations, the country's cultural heritage and diversity, as well as the historical connections between Ghana and India.
In his post on X, Prime Minister Modi stated, "I thank the people and Government of Ghana for conferring 'The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana' upon me. This honour is dedicated to the bright future of our youth, their aspirations, our rich cultural diversity and the historical ties between India and Ghana. This honour is also a responsibility; to keep working towards stronger India-Ghana friendship. India will always stand with the people of Ghana and continue to contribute as a trusted friend and development partner."

The Prime Minister also conveyed his appreciation to Ghana's people and government for this meaningful gesture.
Highlighting the shared democratic values and traditions between both nations, PM Modi mentioned that these would continue to foster their partnership. He noted that the award further strengthens the friendship between the two countries while placing additional responsibility on him to embrace and advance bilateral relations. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that his historic State Visit to Ghana would give new momentum to India-Ghana ties, as stated by the MEA.
