India has initiated the evacuation of its citizens from Israel as tensions in the Middle East intensify following US strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities on Sunday, according to sources.
Earlier this week, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that India would facilitate the departure of Indian nationals "who wish to leave" Israel.
"They will be assisted in traveling from Israel to India through land borders and subsequently by air transport to India," the statement indicated.
"The safety and security of Indian nationals abroad remains the highest priority for the government of India," the MEA emphasized.
All Indian citizens are urged to register with the Embassy of India in Tel Aviv at https://www.indembassyisrael.gov.in/indian_national_reg if they haven't already done so.
"For any assistance, they can contact the 24/7 Control Room established at Embassy of India, Tel Aviv: telephone numbers: +972 54-7520711; +972 54-3278392; email: cons1.telaviv@mea.gov.in," it added.
Currently, approximately 18,000 Indian nationals reside in Israel.

The Israel-Iran conflict commenced when Israeli forces launched "Operation Rising Lion" last Friday, targeting Iran's nuclear and military installations, senior generals, and nuclear scientists.
Israel claimed that Iran was close to developing a nuclear weapon.
The situation escalated on Sunday when the United States joined Israel's military campaign by striking three nuclear sites in Iran.
President Donald Trump stated that American aircraft had "completed a very successful attack" on Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan, marking the first US military action against facilities inside Iran since the Iranian Revolution in 1979.
