Prime Minister Modi held discussions with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Tuesday during the G7 Summit in Canada.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation across several critical sectors including trade and investment, defence and security, green energy, and technology.
The leaders, meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, also discussed various regional and global issues, according to Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude to Chancellor Merz for Germany's unwavering solidarity and support to India in combating terrorism, Jaiswal noted.
"Commemorating steadfast 25 years of Strategic Partnership. PM @narendramodi met Chancellor Friedrich Merz @_FriedrichMerz of Germany on the sidelines of #G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Canada," Jaiswal shared on platform X.
"Both leaders discussed ways to strengthen India-Germany bilateral cooperation in key areas of trade and investment, defence and security, green and sustainable development partnership, green energy, technology, innovation, education and mobility," his statement continued.
Prior to this meeting, Modi had indicated that he would be addressing significant global challenges and highlighting the priorities of the Global South during his interactions with world leaders at the G7 Summit.
