New Delhi:
An Indian national, who was captured on video being restrained and handcuffed by US authorities, had reportedly entered the United States illegally.
Sources reveal that the man, originally from Haryana, was undergoing deportation procedures at Newark's Liberty International Airport when the incident occurred. He had entered the US without proper documentation. His removal was being executed by American officials following a court directive.
The unidentified individual was in transit through Newark when authorities determined his behavior was unsuitable for continued travel. After being physically restrained, he was transferred to a medical facility for evaluation.
According to sources, the deportation process will resume once medical professionals declare him fit for travel. The Indian Consulate based in New York is currently engaged with US officials to manage the situation.
On June 8, Indo-American social entrepreneur Kunal Jain shared footage of the incident on social media, writing: "I witnessed a young Indian student being deported from Newark Airport last night-handcuffed, crying, treated like a criminal. He came chasing dreams, not causing harm. As an NRI, I felt helpless and heartbroken. This is a human tragedy."
