US Journalist Shuts Bilawal Bhutto Down With Colonel Sofiya Qureshi Reference

Former Pakistan minister Bilawal Bhutto was stumped by a journalist's question at a UN media interaction after the Pakistani leader alleged that the Pahalgam terror attack "was being used as a political tool to demonise Muslims in India"

Former Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto found himself in an awkward position during a UN press conference when challenged about his claim that the Pahalgam terror attack "was being used as a political tool to demonise Muslims in India." Experienced journalist Ahmed Fathi countered this narrative by pointing out that "Muslim Indian military officers" were prominently featured in India's official briefings during the conflict.
When confronted with this fact, Bhutto appeared caught off-guard, acknowledging "Well, as far as the operation is concerned, you are absolutely right." The journalist was clearly referencing Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, who had become an inspiration across India while representing the country's position during Operation Sindoor.
Before Fathi could continue his questioning, Bhutto interrupted with a series of unfounded allegations against India, though the journalist had already effectively made his point.
Currently serving as Chairman of the Pakistan People's Party and a National Assembly member, Bhutto previously held the position of Foreign Minister. During the same UN press interaction, he admitted that Pakistan faces significant challenges in internationalizing the Kashmir issue, stating "As far as the hurdles we face within the UN and in general, as far as the Kashmir cause is concerned, that still exists."
Following India's diplomatic outreach efforts after recent tensions, Pakistan launched similar delegations abroad, with Bhutto leading one such group.
Bhutto previously sparked controversy with what many viewed as politically immature statements. After India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty following the Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 innocent lives, Bhutto declared, "The Indus is ours and will remain ours - either our water will flow through it, or their blood."
Among those criticizing these reckless remarks was AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi. The Hyderabad MP reminded Bhutto about the tragic fate of his own family members, stating: "Forget about such childish talk. He doesn't know what happened to his grandfather? His mother? His mother was killed by terrorists. So at least, he should not be speaking like this."
Owaisi further questioned Bhutto's understanding, adding: "He must think who killed his mother. Terrorism killed her. If he doesn't get that, what will you explain to him? When they shot your mother, it is terrorism. And when they kill our mothers and daughters, it is not?"
