Former Samajwadi Party MLA Irfan Solanki has been released from Maharajganj jail after spending nearly three years in prison. The Allahabad High Court granted him bail in his final pending Gangsters Act case. His wife Nasim Solanki, who won his seat in a bye-election, was present with family members to welcome him upon release.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday orally observed that disqualified Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Irfan Solanki should allow his wife, Naseem Solanki, to remain MLA after she won the By-elections in November last year from UP's Sishamau.
