Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that the Gauhati High Court has approved the formation of a judicial commission led by Justice Soumitra Saikia to investigate the death of renowned singer Zubeen Garg. The CID has taken two band members into custody while investigating the case. The government has received the first autopsy report from Singapore and is making efforts to involve NRIs who were on the same yacht as Garg in the investigation.

The Assam Police Special Investigation Team has arrested four individuals in connection with singer Zubeen Garg's death, including his bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and co-singer Amritprava Mahanta. Murder charges have been filed as investigators examine video evidence from the yacht party where the 52-year-old singer was found floating face down after going for a swim during the North East India Festival.
