Trump Vows Crackdown on Afghan Migrants Following National Guard Shooting Incident

Approximately 77,000 Afghan nationals were relocated to the United States under the initiative known as Operation Allies Welcome.

Following the shooting of two National Guard members near the White House, President Donald Trump criticized the Biden administration's "Operation Allies Welcome" program. Trump claimed this initiative brought thousands of "totally unvetted and unchecked" Afghan migrants into the country in 2021. The alleged shooter, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan national, had entered the US following America's military withdrawal from Afghanistan.

On his Truth Social platform, Trump posted an image depicting Afghans being evacuated in a military aircraft as part of "Operation Allies Welcome." He described it as a "horrendous airlift" and promised to address the situation.

"This is part of the horrendous airlift from Afghanistan. Hundreds of thousands of people poured into our Country totally unvetted and unchecked. We will fix it, but will never forget what Crooked Joe Biden and his Thugs did to our Country!" Trump stated on social media.

In a subsequent post, Trump declared his intention to "permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries" to allow the American system to "fully recover."

Trump attributed what he called "social dysfunction in America" to the "refugee burden," claiming this phenomenon did not exist after World War II.

He suggested that while the United States has advanced technologically, immigration policies have undermined these gains and deteriorated living conditions for many Americans.

Trump further committed to ending "millions of Biden illegal admissions," including those authorized by what he termed "Sleepy Joe Biden's Autopen." He pledged to remove individuals he considers not to be "net assets" to the United States or those "incapable of loving our Country." His plan includes terminating federal benefits for non-citizens, denaturalizing migrants who "undermine domestic tranquility," and deporting foreign nationals deemed "public charges, security risks, or non-compatible with Western Civilization."

Concluding his announcement, the President extended Thanksgiving wishes to all "except those that hate, steal, murder, and destroy everything that America stands for," warning such individuals that they "won't be here for long."

Regarding the West Virginia shooting incident, two National Guard members were attacked on Wednesday afternoon at approximately 2:15. Reports indicate the assailant first shot a female guard in the chest and then in the head. The attacker allegedly then fired at and struck a second guard before being neutralized by a third guard.

Sarah Beckstrom, age 20, was one of the National Guard members targeted in the vicinity of the White House. Beckstrom succumbed to her injuries the following morning.

Originally from Summersville, West Virginia, Beckstrom began her military service on June 6, 2023. She was assigned to the 863rd Military Police Company, 111th Engineer Brigade of the West Virginia Army National Guard, according to The New York Times.

Concerning the suspect, Rahmanullah Lakanwal came to the United States in 2021 alongside nearly 77,000 other Afghans following America's withdrawal from Afghanistan. He was subsequently resettled in Bellingham, Washington. Sources indicate he had previously served as a soldier alongside American military forces.

According to sources within the Afghan Taliban government, Lakanwal had served in the 01 Unit during the former Afghan Republic – a unit that was established, trained, and equipped by US intelligence agencies.
