Social media has been buzzing with rumors concerning Imran Khan, the former Pakistani Prime Minister, allegedly dying in Rawalpindi jail. These speculations have reignited interest in the various charges, accusations, and convictions that led to the former cricket star's imprisonment.

Despite government officials dismissing these rumors and confirming Khan's well-being, his three sisters - Noreen Khan, Aleema Khan, and Uzma Khan - claim they were prevented from visiting their brother. They further alleged assault when attempting to see him at Adiala jail, stating they haven't had contact with him for three weeks.

Amid these rumors, Khan's son Kasim has demanded proof that his father is alive and well.

The former sports icon turned politician was detained at his Lahore residence in August 2023 after an Islamabad court sentenced him to three years imprisonment following his conviction in a corruption case.

This ruling also imposed a five-year ban on Khan holding any public office. Prior to his arrest, Khan revealed to Al Jazeera in March 2023 that he faced approximately 85 different cases, noting that "Every other day, some sort of case comes up."

In January 2025, an anti-graft court handed Khan a 14-year prison term for land corruption. His wife, Bushra Bibi, received a seven-year sentence in the same case. This verdict was delivered in the same facility where Khan has been detained since August 2023.

Earlier in 2024, Khan stated that if anything happened to him, Pakistan's Army Chief Asim Munir would bear responsibility.

The allegations against Khan include corruption charges where he and his wife were convicted of accepting land worth approximately Rs 700 crore ($25.12 million) as a bribe through a trust established in 2018. Khan's political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), maintains the land was donated for charitable purposes.

Another accusation involves Khan selling state gifts valued at over Rs 14 crore that he received during his tenure as Prime Minister. According to the case, these items belonged to the state, not to him personally.

Khan also faces charges of inciting violence following his arrest in May 2023. Several PTI supporters have already been sentenced in connection with this case.

Additionally, Khan was accused of making public a classified diplomatic cable sent by Pakistan's ambassador in Washington in 2022 while he was in office. However, he was later acquitted of this charge.

Among other allegations, Khan and his wife were accused of violating Islamic law by not observing the mandatory waiting period between Bibi's divorce from her previous husband and their marriage in 2018. This charge was subsequently dropped.
