Imran Khan's Family Denied Access: Sister Raises Concerns About Former Pakistani PM's Detention

Where is Imran Khan? This question has become trending and is causing significant concern, as his family claims they have been prevented from meeting the former Pakistani Prime Minister for several weeks.

In a telephone interview with NDTV, Aleema Khanum, one of Imran Khan's three sisters, stated: "For the last 6-7 months, they have created numerous obstacles; sometimes allowing me to visit him, sometimes permitting one of my sisters, and sometimes denying access to everyone. We have often waited outside for hours."

"Between August and September, we managed to meet him because he was facing a case in jail. Our legal team in the jail court declared that if family and media were denied access and there was no transparent trial, we would refuse to appear before the judge again. Due to this stance and the judge's orders, he decided to proceed with the case. We visited the court, met Imran Khan, and confirmed he was well. He also communicated messages to us," Khanum explained.

Imran Khan was removed from power in 2022 through a no-confidence vote after losing support from Pakistan's influential military.

The former cricket star has been in custody since August 2023, facing numerous charges that he contends are politically motivated.

In January, he was convicted in a corruption case along with his wife, receiving sentences of 14 years and seven years, respectively.

"Fundamentally, he should not be imprisoned. What are these cases against him? He has confronted all charges. In cases where he has been proven innocent, decisions are still pending. One case concluded 5-6 weeks ago, with judgment awaited. The verdict date was initially set for November 27 but was changed to December 28," she added.

When asked about potential conspiracy theories, Imran Khan's sister responded: "How can we know until we meet him? Let me be clear about one thing. No one would dare harm Imran. Try it and see if anyone survives the consequences."

Today, Adiala Jail authorities dismissed social media rumors about Imran Khan's health, emphasizing that the leader is in "completely good health".

"Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leadership has been informed about Imran Khan's health condition. The PTI chief is receiving all necessary care," stated the Adiala Jail administration.

The jail administration further clarified that reports suggesting Imran Khan's transfer from Adiala Jail are entirely unfounded.

"Imran Khan remains in Adiala Jail and is healthy. Social media rumors regarding his transfer are baseless," the administration confirmed.

Khan's party has demanded that the government remove the unofficial ban on meetings with him and immediately arrange for his family to visit.

"The nation will not tolerate any uncertainty regarding Imran Khan's status. The government bears direct responsibility for safeguarding Imran's security, human rights, and constitutional rights," his party declared.
