NYC Mayor-Elect Mamdani Discovers Unusual UFC Book During White House Meeting with President Trump

New York City's Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani recently revealed an unexpected discovery during his White House meeting with President Donald Trump. While appearing on "The Adam Friedland Show," the 34-year-old democratic socialist shared that among Trump's collection of coffee table books, he noticed one titled "UFC at the White House."

Describing his experience, Mamdani recalled, "I sit down, waiting for the time of the meeting, and in front of me are all of these different coffee-table books. And one of them is UFC at the White House. I had no idea, and I was just flipping through that."

When questioned about the content, Mamdani clarified that the book contained visualizations of how the UFC's octagon-shaped cage arena would look positioned on the White House South Lawn, rather than images of actual fights.

The planned UFC event, which Trump initially announced in July as part of America's 250th anniversary celebrations, is scheduled to coincide with the president's 80th birthday on June 14, 2026. When asked if he would attend this event, Mamdani simply responded "No," with a laugh.

In a separate interview with NBC's Meet the Press, Mamdani maintained his previous characterization of Trump as a "fascist" and a "despot," despite their surprisingly cordial White House meeting. When asked if he still viewed Trump as a threat to democracy, Mamdani stated, "Everything that I've said in the past I continue to believe... I think it is important in our politics that we don't shy away from where we have disagreements."

The interaction between Mamdani and Trump gained significant attention online following a memorable moment during their joint press appearance. When a reporter questioned Mamdani about his past comments calling Trump a fascist, the president interjected saying, "That's OK. You can just say it. That's easier... It's easier than explaining it. I don't mind."
