Zelensky Welcomes 'Principles' Of New US Draft To End War

"The principles of this document can be expanded into deeper agreements," Zelensky stated during his address.

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine expressed on Tuesday that the "principles" contained in an updated US proposal for ending the conflict with Russia could potentially develop into "deeper agreements" and emphasized that "much depends" on Washington's involvement.

The original American plan for concluding nearly four years of Russian invasion has undergone revisions—following criticism that the initial version favored Moscow too heavily—though the updated document has not yet been released to the public.

"The principles of this document can be expanded into deeper agreements," Zelensky remarked in his daily address to the nation.

"I am counting on further active cooperation with the American side and with President (Donald) Trump. Much depends on America, because Russia pays the greatest attention to American strength," the Ukrainian leader affirmed.

On Tuesday, American officials were engaged in discussions with Russian representatives in Abu Dhabi.

Earlier that same day, Zelensky informed Ukraine's allies that his country was prepared to "move forward" with the "framework" outlined in the new US plan—while noting that certain "sensitive points" remained unresolved.

"Ukraine has the framework developed by our teams in Geneva. That framework is on the table, and we're ready to move forward together—with the United States of America, with personal engagement of President Trump, and with Europe," Zelensky told the Coalition of the Willing leadership.

According to the official transcript of his speech, he expressed being "ready to meet" with Trump to discuss these "sensitive points" in greater detail.

Zelensky called for European leaders to participate in the negotiations, emphasizing that "security decisions about Europe must include Europe" in the process.
