Ukraine Receives US Draft Peace Plan to End Russia Conflict, Zelensky Ready for Diplomatic Engagement

A telephone conversation between President Zelensky and Donald Trump is anticipated to occur within the next few days, according to Kyiv's statement.

Ukraine announced on Thursday that it had received a "draft plan" from the United States containing proposals to end the ongoing conflict with Russia, and expressed willingness to engage with Washington regarding the contents.

"The President of Ukraine has officially been presented with a draft plan from the American side, which, according to American assessment, could potentially reinvigorate diplomatic efforts," stated the office of Volodymyr Zelensky in an official release.

Kyiv did not disclose the specific contents of the plan, which, based on information provided to AFP by a source familiar with the matter, appeared to reflect many of Moscow's maximalist demands for war termination.

These demands reportedly included Ukraine ceding territory to Russia and imposing limitations on the size of its military forces.

Following discussions with US army officials in Kyiv, Zelensky's office stated, "An agreement was reached to work on the plan's points to ensure a dignified conclusion to the war."

"We are now prepared to work constructively with the American side and our partners across Europe and globally to achieve peace as an outcome," the statement added.

Kyiv indicated that a call between Zelensky and Trump was expected to take place in the coming days.
