On Thursday, the Grevin waxwork museum in Paris revealed its newest attraction: a figure of Princess Diana adorned in the famous "revenge dress" she wore following public revelations about Prince Charles's infidelity.
Located in central Paris, the Grevin Museum, comparable to London's Madame Tussauds, already features wax figures of Charles, now King Charles III, and his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Diana had been conspicuously absent from the collection, despite her tragic connection to Paris where she lost her life in a car accident in August 1997.
The wax figure displays Diana in a reproduction of Christina Stambolian's black gown, which she wore to a public event in 1994 amid intense media coverage of her marriage collapse with Charles.
She made her striking appearance in the backless dress on the same evening that an interview aired in which Charles confessed to his unfaithfulness.
The Grevin Museum stated: "More than 28 years after her tragic death in Paris, Diana remains a significant figure in global pop culture, celebrated for her style, humanity and independence."
"The gown became a statement of reclaimed self-assertion, a powerful image of determined femininity and renewed confidence," the museum added.
Diana's waxwork will be positioned under the museum's dome alongside fashion personalities Jean Paul Gaultier and Chantal Thomass, as well as the former French queen Marie-Antoinette, who was executed in 1793.
