Hamas leadership has officially expressed rejection of Monday's United Nations resolution calling for international forces in Gaza, stating that it fails to address Palestinian "demands and rights."
In a formal statement, the Gaza-ruling group declared, "This resolution does not meet the level of our Palestinian people's political and humanitarian demands and rights."
The organization specifically criticized provisions for an international force tasked with disarming Palestinian groups operating within Gaza territory.
"The resolution imposes an international trusteeship on the Gaza Strip, which our people, its forces, and its constituent groups reject," Hamas officials emphasized in their response.
Earlier Monday, the UN Security Council approved a United States-drafted resolution supporting President Donald Trump's Gaza peace initiative, which outlines both the deployment of international forces and establishes a pathway toward a future Palestinian state.
The resolution secured strong support with 13 affirmative votes, while Russia and China chose to abstain rather than exercise veto power. Following the vote, Washington characterized the outcome as "historic and constructive."
