Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo Joins Ukrainian Defence Firm's Advisory Board Amid Anti-Corruption Investigation

Fire Point, a leading Ukrainian drone and missile manufacturer, has appointed former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to its advisory board to enhance governance while facing anti-corruption investigations. The company, known for its FP-1 drone used in long-range strikes against Russia, is strengthening international standards as Ukraine expands its domestic arms production capabilities.

Ukrainian Defence Firm Names Ex-US Official Mike Pompeo To Advisory Board

Mike Pompeo, former US Secretary of State, will join the advisory board of Ukraine's newly established defence firm, according to the company's announcement.

A prominent Ukrainian drone and missile manufacturer revealed on Monday its decision to appoint former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to its newly formed advisory board. This strategic move aims to strengthen oversight while the company faces an ongoing investigation by anti-corruption authorities.

Fire Point, whose FP-1 drone has played a crucial role in Ukraine's long-range military operations against Russia, stated it was "aligning our governance framework with leading international standards" through the appointment of Pompeo, who served in the first Trump administration from 2018 to 2021.

The company, which has also developed the Flamingo cruise missile that Ukraine hopes to produce at scale as part of its expanding arms industry, is currently under investigation by Ukrainian anti-corruption agencies regarding allegations of price inflation, as reported by the Kyiv Independent newspaper.

"Secretary Pompeo's strategic insights and deep understanding of global affairs will be invaluable as we continue to grow and strengthen our governance practices," Fire Point declared in their official statement, without making any reference to the ongoing investigation.

Fire Point has plans to establish a rocket-fuel production facility in Denmark in the coming months, according to information from the Danish defence minister.

Combating corruption and enhancing governance structures remain critical priorities for Kyiv as it seeks additional Western financial and military support in its continued conflict with Russian forces, now entering its fourth year, and for Ukraine's application for European Union membership.
