Fatal Double-Decker Bus Crash at Stockholm Bus Stop Claims Multiple Lives

Multiple fatalities and injuries have been reported after a bus crashed into a bus stop in Stockholm.

Several individuals have lost their lives and others sustained injuries when a double-decker bus collided with a bus stop in Stockholm on Friday. Police officials have confirmed that multiple people were struck in the incident, though they have not disclosed specific information regarding the number of victims, their genders, or ages.

The vehicle crashed into the bus station at 3:23 pm local time. The incident occurred on Valhallavagen, a street located in the Ostermalm district of the Swedish capital.

Police are currently conducting an investigation and have classified the crash as "involuntary manslaughter." The cause of the collision remains unclear at this time.

According to the Swedish news agency TT, authorities have detained the driver who will be questioned to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Emergency services reported that the vehicle was a regular city bus that was not in service at the time, with no passengers on board.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson expressed his condolences on X, stating he had "received the tragic news that several people have been killed and injured at a bus stop ... People who were perhaps on their way home to family, friends, or a quiet evening at home."

He further commented, "we do not yet know the cause of this, but right now my thoughts are primarily with those who have been affected and their families."
