The co-founder and CEO of fintech company Extend recently shared an unexpected sighting from his office window that quickly gained attention online.

Kushal Byatnal, an Indian-origin entrepreneur, captured a moment showing New York City's mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani engaged in what appeared to be "a deep debate" with US Senator Elizabeth Warren right across the street from his company's headquarters.

Byatnal explained in his social media post that Extend's office is situated "directly across the street" from Mamdani's campaign headquarters. Following their company stand-up meeting, the team was surprised to spot the two prominent Democratic figures conversing outside.

"Our office is directly across the street from Mamdani's campaign HQ. We looked over after standup today and surprise, Elizabeth Warren and Mamdani in a deep debate. Team is tempted to put up a sign petitioning for @ExtendHQ to take over doc processing for NYC," Byatnal shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The post quickly went viral, generating various reactions from users. One commenter humorously noted, "Typical indian neighbour behaviour lol," while another joked, "Debating who has to pay for lunch."

Many followers were curious about the topic of discussion between the two politicians, with one user questioning, "Why is he sparring with her? I don't think her policies work for NYC."

Mamdani, who is Ugandan-born and the city's first Muslim mayor-elect, also holds the distinction of being the first mayor of South Asian descent in New York City. His successful campaign resonated with a diverse range of voters, leading to victory in four of the city's five boroughs.

Coming from a notable family background, Mamdani is the son of Mahmood Mamdani, an India-born Ugandan anthropologist, and acclaimed Indian filmmaker Mira Nair.

As a democratic socialist positioned on the left wing of his party, Mamdani's digitally adept campaign particularly connected with younger New Yorkers, resulting in the city's highest voter turnout for a mayoral election in decades.
