Russian President Vladimir Putin's recent public appearance has sparked renewed speculation regarding his health condition, with numerous social media users highlighting what appears to be a swollen and uncomfortable right hand, according to a Newsweek report.
A widely circulated video, reportedly captured during the previous week, revealed the 73-year-old leader's right hand displaying noticeable wrinkles and prominent veins. During his meeting with 22-year-old Yekaterina Leshchinskaya, who leads the Russian Healthy Fatherland movement, Putin appeared visibly uncomfortable and was observed repeatedly clenching his hands into fists, as reported by Express UK.
Anton Gerashchenko, former adviser to Ukraine's interior ministry, shared the footage on X (previously known as Twitter), questioning, "What's with Putin's hands in this video?"
Following the circulation of this video, social media commentators have suggested that Putin might be suffering from either a neurological or circulatory condition. Some have drawn comparisons between his symptoms and those associated with Parkinson's disease.
This incident is not unprecedented. Several months after the commencement of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Putin's right hand was observed with mysterious black spots during a military visit, which similarly raised health concerns among observers.
Putin is not the only world leader to face such scrutiny. United States President Donald Trump experienced comparable speculation when internet users identified bruises on his hand.
The speculation surrounding Trump became so widespread that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt had to provide clarification, explaining that Trump's bruised hand resulted from "tissue damage from frequent handshaking" while taking aspirin as "part of a standard cardio-vascular prevention regimen."
The Kremlin has not addressed the recent speculation regarding Putin's health. However, in previous instances, they have dismissed such rumors as "fake."
In related discussions about the video, some users referenced a viral conversation between Putin and Chinese Premier Xi Jinping concerning human organ harvesting for extended longevity.
During their September meeting in Beijing, Putin was reportedly overheard stating, "Human organs can be continuously transplanted. The longer you live, the younger you become."
He further remarked, "People used to rarely live to 70, but now at 70 you are still a child."
