Siddhant Awasthi recently described his tenure at Tesla as one of the most fulfilling professional experiences he has had.
After eight years with the electric vehicle manufacturer, Siddhant Awasthi, the Indian engineer who spearheaded Tesla's prominent Cybertruck program, has announced his resignation. In his LinkedIn farewell message, he reflected on his time at Tesla as being among the most rewarding periods of his professional life.
"I recently made one of the hardest decisions of my life to leave Tesla after an incredible run. It's been an absolute privilege filled with mostly high-intensity days working alongside talented, driven, and truly rockstar colleagues across Tesla," Awasthi shared on his LinkedIn profile.
Siddhant Awasthi's background includes education at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Hebbal, Bengaluru, followed by a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering. He later enhanced his qualifications with a Master's in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in the United States.
Throughout his academic career, Awasthi gained experience through various positions, including internships and research initiatives. Prior to joining Tesla, he worked with Medaino Healthcare, a wearable health-tech startup, and contributed to Hyperloop UC, the University of Cincinnati's entry in SpaceX's Hyperloop competition.
Awasthi's career at Tesla began in 2017 as an intern, progressing to Project Manager in 2018.
Over his eight-year and four-month tenure, he climbed the corporate ladder to eventually become the Cybertruck Programme Manager. Most recently, he also took on responsibilities for the Model 3 Programme.
In his role as Cybertruck Programme Manager, Awasthi led cross-functional engineering teams, developed product roadmaps, streamlined manufacturing processes, and regularly briefed Tesla's senior leadership, including CEO Elon Musk, on critical strategic decisions.
Shortly after Awasthi's resignation announcement, Emmanuel Lamacchia, another senior Tesla executive who led the company's Model Y programme, also departed from the organization.
Several high-ranking Tesla managers have left the company within the past year, including Daniel Ho, who oversaw the Model 3 launch, and David Zhang, who managed the Model S and Model X programmes.
Troy Jones, a top sales executive for North America, departed in July after 15 years with the company.
