HyunA Collapses During Waterbomb Festival Performance: Health Concerns Rise After Rapid Weight Loss

South Korean performer HyunA fainted while on stage during her performance at the Waterbomb 2025 music festival in Macau on Sunday, November 9. This occurrence has generated health concerns, with many attributing the collapse to her recent swift weight loss. According to CNA reports, HyunA was performing her popular track "Bubble Pop!" when she unexpectedly lost consciousness and fell to the ground. Her dancers quickly came to her assistance, and security staff carried her offstage. The performance was briefly interrupted following this incident.

This event has ignited discussions about the extreme pressures and aesthetic expectations within the K-pop industry. The artist had recently disclosed on Instagram that she shed 10 kilograms (approximately 22 pounds) within a single month through a rigorous diet after facing speculation about pregnancy due to weight gain following her marriage in October 2024.

HyunA was previously diagnosed with vasovagal syncope in 2020, a condition causing sudden decreases in blood pressure and heart rate, which can be triggered by stress, exhaustion, or extreme dieting practices.

Healthcare professionals suggest that such quick weight reduction can cause nutritional imbalances and fatigue, potentially contributing to her fainting episode.

After recovering consciousness and resting, HyunA addressed her fans, known as "A-ings," through Instagram to apologize for the incident.

She stated: "I'm truly, truly sorry... I wanted to show you a great performance, but I don't feel like I managed to be professional, and to be honest, I don't remember anything".

She further assured them she was "really okay" and committed to improving her stamina and working diligently moving forward. "Don't worry about me. I hope everyone has a good night," she added. Her agency, At Area, confirmed she was resting and stabilizing after the incident.
