"This Is What He Wanted": Charlie Kirk's Wife Named New CEO Of Turning Point USA

Two days after Charlie Kirk was shot dead on a university campus, Erika Kirk told supporters: "The movement my husband built will not die."

The widow of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk will assume leadership of youth action campaign group Turning Point USA, as announced by officials on Thursday.

Just two days following her husband's fatal shooting on a university campus, allegedly by a 22-year-old gunman, Erika Kirk declared to supporters: "The movement my husband built will not die."

The organization's board has now confirmed that Kirk will step into her husband's role as its leader.

"The Turning Point Board has unanimously elected Erika Kirk as the new CEO and Chair of the Board," stated a post on X on Thursday.

"In prior discussions, Charlie expressed to multiple executives that this is what he wanted in the event of his death."

Kirk's passing last week triggered widespread mourning among conservatives who celebrated him as a champion of free speech and Christian values.

President Donald Trump ordered flags lowered to half staff, while Vice President JD Vance flew to Utah to retrieve Kirk's body in an uncommonly formal display of official grief for a civilian.

The shooting has also exposed deep divisions within American society, with conservative groups organizing to penalize those they perceived as not showing adequate respect following Kirk's death.

Multiple reports have emerged of individuals being terminated from their positions after publishing social media posts that celebrated his death or mocked Kirk.

Late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel became the latest casualty on Wednesday when ABC network announced the indefinite suspension of his "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" show.

This decision followed conservative backlash against comments Kimmel made regarding the alleged shooter's motives, and after the federal government threatened to revoke broadcast licenses from channels that failed to take a position against him.
