US Would Assist in Ensuring Peace Following Russia's Ukraine Conflict: Trump

President Donald Trump stated in a Fox News interview on Thursday that the United States would assist in securing peace once the Russia-Ukraine conflict is resolved.
"After the war is settled, we would help secure the peace. And I think ultimately that'll happen," Trump said during his appearance on "The Story with Martha MacCallum."
The president admitted that facilitating an end to the Ukraine war has proven more difficult than he had expected and expressed his disappointment with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"The one I thought was going to be easiest (to settle) was going to be Russia-Ukraine, because of my relationship with President Putin. So I'm disappointed," Trump acknowledged.
Trump has repeatedly established deadlines for Moscow to reach ceasefire agreements with Ukraine under threat of new sanctions, but these deadlines have consistently been ignored. Despite hosting Putin at what the White House described as a peace summit in Alaska in mid-August, Trump failed to secure significant concessions.
In the Fox News interview, Trump maintained his belief that a resolution to the conflict would eventually be found, suggesting that one path forward would be for Europe to cease purchasing Russian oil.
"Ultimately, if oil prices go down, or if Russia is not selling oil, they have no choice but to settle and European Union nations or the NATO nations ... when they're buying oil from Russia, that's not the greatest thing," Trump explained.
