His victory celebration took an unexpected Bollywood turn when the popular track 'Dhoom Machale' from the hit movie 'Dhoom' began playing after his inaugural victory speech.

As the energetic song filled the venue, Mamdani acknowledged his supporters with a wave before embracing his wife, Rama Duwaji. The celebration became even more poignant when his parents - renowned Ugandan academic Mahmood Mamdani and acclaimed Indian filmmaker Mira Nair - joined him on stage.

In a bold move, Mamdani directly addressed US President Donald Trump: "Donald Trump, since I know you're watching, I have four words for you: turn the volume up." He continued with defiance, "To get to any of us, you will have to get through all of us... If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him."

Mamdani is scheduled to take office as New York City's mayor on January 1. Following his victory announcement by major media outlets, he shared a symbolic video from the City Hall station in New York, featuring a subway announcement declaring "Zohran for New York City" as a train arrived at its final stop - City Hall.
