Unprovoked Racial Attack on Indian Man at Canada McDonald's Raises Concerns About Rising Xenophobia

A disturbing video from Toronto shows an intoxicated man assaulting an individual of Indian origin at a McDonald's restaurant, highlighting growing concerns about racism and xenophobia in Canada. The unprovoked attack, captured on mobile phone footage, shows the aggressor physically confronting the victim while accusing him of "acting superior." This incident follows the recent fatal attack on Canadian-Indian businessman Arvi Singh Sagoo in Edmonton, further intensifying concerns about racial tensions in the country.

Why Acting Superior? Indian Man Racially Attacked At Canada McDonald's

The white aggressor persisted in accusing the victim of arrogance throughout the encounter.

In the wake of growing concerns regarding increasing racism and xenophobia directed at immigrants in Canada, a troubling video has surfaced from Toronto. The footage shows an evidently intoxicated individual assaulting a person of brown complexion, believed to be of Indian descent, at a McDonald's restaurant. The mobile phone recording, which has gained significant traction across social media platforms, clearly demonstrates that the attack was entirely unprovoked.

The video depicts a Caucasian Canadian wearing a Toronto Blue Jays jacket randomly approaching the brown-skinned man near the 'Mobile Order Pick Up' counter of the McDonald's establishment before initiating a physical confrontation.

The inebriated aggressor initially pushed the man who was standing peacefully by the counter, causing his phone to be flung into the air. When the Indian man calmly retrieved his device, the attacker rushed toward him, seized him by the collar, and forcefully shoved him backward. During this confrontation, the attacker was heard accusing the Indian man of "acting superior" in his presence while maintaining his grip on the victim's collar.

The Indian man attempted to defend himself without retaliating, but the aggressor refused to cease his behavior until another individual, possibly a McDonald's employee, intervened and requested that both men take their altercation outside the premises.

Nevertheless, the white man continued to accuse the victim of arrogance before being escorted out of the restaurant.

NDTV has not independently verified the authenticity of the video footage.

As of now, law enforcement authorities have not released any statement regarding the incident, and the identities of both individuals involved remain unconfirmed. However, reports indicate the incident occurred on November 1.

This disturbing video emerges shortly after another incident involving 55-year-old Canadian-Indian businessman Arvi Singh Sagoo, who was fatally attacked by a stranger in Edmonton, Canada. Sagoo confronted the stranger for urinating on his vehicle, after which the man punched Sagoo in the head, causing him to lose consciousness.

The assault on Sagoo took place on October 19, and he succumbed to his injuries five days later, on October 24.
