Trump Claims He's "Better Looking" Than NYC Mayoral Candidate Zohran Mamdani in CBS Interview

US President Donald Trump has characterized himself as "a much better looking person" when compared to New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.

During a CBS 60 Minutes Interview, when questioned about people drawing parallels between Mamdani and himself as "a left-wing version" of Trump, the 79-year-old president responded, "I think I'm a much better looking person."

Regarding Mamdani's political stance, Trump further commented, "Communist, not a socialist. He's far worse than a socialist."

This isn't the first instance where the US President has expressed his views about the Democratic nominee for NYC mayor.

In July, Trump labeled Mamdani a "communist lunatic" and pledged to "Make New York City Great Again." At that time, Trump stated he would prevent Mamdani from "destroying" the city, claiming he "holds all the levers" to stop him.

Mamdani, who became a US citizen in 2018, would become the city's first Muslim mayor if elected on November 4. He has stated that he will not be "intimidated" by Trump following the President's threat to have him arrested if he impeded Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in New York.

"The President of the United States just threatened to have me arrested, stripped of my citizenship, put in a detention camp and deported not because I have broken any law but because I will refuse to let ICE terrorise our city," Mamdani declared in a statement.

The New York mayoral election, scheduled for Tuesday, is anticipated to be one of the most competitive in recent years. Mamdani has emerged as the frontrunner after defeating former Governor Andrew Cuomo in the June 24 Democratic primary, securing approximately 43.5 percent of first-round votes under ranked-choice voting. Cuomo will participate in the election as an independent, alongside incumbent mayor Eric Adams and Republican Curtis Sliwa.
