An explosion occurred early Saturday at Harvard Medical School in what authorities are describing as a deliberate incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

According to a statement from university police, a campus officer responding to a fire alarm attempted to intercept two unidentified individuals who fled from the Goldenson Building before proceeding to the location where the alarm had been triggered.

Following an investigation, the Boston Fire Department concluded that the explosion was intentional. A thorough sweep of the building by officers did not reveal any additional explosive devices.

Authorities have distributed grainy surveillance photographs showing two suspects wearing face coverings and what appear to be sweatshirts.
