Authorities apprehended a suspect following a stabbing incident in west London that resulted in one fatality and two injuries on Tuesday, according to police reports. Officials have confirmed this was not terrorism-related.

British media outlets identified the suspect as an Afghan citizen, while the interior ministry only disclosed that he was a foreign national who had been legally residing in the United Kingdom since 2022.

London's police force stated that emergency responders treated a 49-year-old male victim who succumbed to his injuries at the scene in the Uxbridge area of western London.

A 45-year-old man sustained serious wounds, while a 14-year-old boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the attack.

Police Chief Superintendent Jill Horsfall described the incident as "a shocking and senseless act of violence" in the official statement.

Authorities clarified they were not investigating the attack as terrorism and were working to determine whether any connections existed between the alleged perpetrator and the victims.

According to the Home Office, the suspect entered Britain concealed in a truck in 2020 and received asylum status in 2022.

Officials emphasized that the individual was not housed in government-provided accommodation or hotels, contradicting false claims circulating on social media platforms.

Hotels accommodating asylum seekers have recently become targets of angry demonstrations following a case where an Ethiopian national sexually assaulted a teenage girl and a woman.

That individual's subsequent conviction has contributed to rising anti-immigrant sentiment, which has fueled protests, riots, and inflammatory messaging across social media in Britain over recent months.
