President Trump performed his signature YMCA dance alongside sailors and Navy personnel on the USS George Washington during his Japan visit, part of his broader Asian tour.
Following a passionate speech to American troops stationed on the aircraft carrier on Tuesday, Trump enthusiastically broke into his well-known dance routine, much to the delight of service members present.
The arrival of Marine One was accompanied by the iconic Top Gun theme playing through loudspeakers. Service members, who had patiently waited for hours to see their commander-in-chief, joined in singing popular tunes like "Sweet Caroline" and "Party in the USA".
Trump's dance performance with the US Navy in Japan quickly gained attention on social media platforms.
Japan's newly appointed Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi accompanied Trump during his visit to Yokosuka Naval Base.
In his address to the sailors, Trump offered unique compliments, noting how "good looking" they were and emphasizing that the Navy's strength comes not from its equipment but "from the men and women of the rank and file." He continued with his characteristic humor, "It comes from you people, incredible people, good-looking people, too many good-looking people," before adding, "I don't like good-looking people. I never liked good-looking people, I'll be honest with you. Never admitted that before."
The President also announced future collaboration with Japan on shipbuilding projects, with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick signing a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in this sector.
Earlier in Tokyo, Trump and Takaichi held substantive meetings where they signed agreements concerning trade and critical minerals, while reaffirming their mutual commitment to strengthening Japan's defense capabilities.
Trump praised Takaichi as a "great leader," and according to White House sources, she expressed her intention to nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Japan represented the second stop on Trump's five-day Asian tour. Prior to arriving in Tokyo, he visited Malaysia to participate in the 47th ASEAN Summit and played a role in signing the Cambodia-Thailand peace agreement, further solidifying his administration's diplomatic efforts in the region.
