Russia Threatens Overwhelming Military Response to Deep Strikes on Russian Territory

Putin stated on Thursday that Moscow would never yield to pressure from the United States.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declared in statements published on Sunday that Russian armed forces will respond with force if strikes occur deep within Russian territory.

"As President Vladimir Putin mentioned, the response will be overwhelming," Peskov told state TV Kremlin correspondent Pavel Zarubin.

On Thursday, Putin emphasized that Moscow would never submit to pressure from the United States or any other foreign power, and warned that Russia would deliver an "overwhelming" response to any military strikes deep inside Russian territory.

Putin announced on Sunday that Russia had successfully tested its nuclear-powered Burevestnik cruise missile, a nuclear-capable weapon that Moscow claims can evade any defense system, and plans to proceed with deploying this weapon.
