George Clooney Jokes About Louvre Museum Heist While Confirming Ocean's Fourteen Development

Hollywood star George Clooney humorously reacted to the recent $100 million Louvre Museum jewelry heist while promoting his film and confirming the development of Ocean's Fourteen. The actor, famous for playing master thief Danny Ocean, joked about being "proud" of the real-life thieves and suggested digitally adding himself to the robbery footage, creating an interesting parallel between his on-screen persona and real-world events as he prepares to reunite with the original Ocean's cast for a new installment in 2026.

Hollywood actor George Clooney expressed his desire to be digitally inserted into footage of the recent $100 million jewelry heist at the Louvre Museum in Paris. The 64-year-old star, while promoting his film Jay Kelly, jokingly stated he was "proud" of the thieves and humorously suggested robbing the Louvre in an upcoming Ocean's movie.

Clooney, renowned for his portrayal of master thief Danny Ocean in the Ocean's franchise, remarked to Variety, "I wonder if they're going to catch these guys. I mean, they seem to have done a pretty good job of getting away with it."

The audacious robbery occurred on October 19, when thieves utilized a basket lift to reach the Louvre's first-floor balcony, forced entry through a window, shattered display cases, and escaped with valuable 19th-century Napoleonic jewels, according to officials.

"I think you gotta put me in like CGI me into that basket coming out of the Louvre. I think you should do that. Yeah, we get blamed for everything now," Clooney quipped, as reported by King5 News.

"It was cool, though, I mean, eh, cool," he continued. "I mean, it's terrible. But if you're a professional thief like I am, I was very proud of those guys."

When questioned if the next Ocean's film might replicate the Louvre incident, Clooney jested, "We should rob the Louvre. But somebody's already done it, man, I don't know. You know what we're going to do? We're going to rob Adam Sandler. He's got some crown jewels, I know he does."

The timing of the actual Louvre theft coincidentally follows Clooney's recent confirmation that Ocean's Fourteen is officially in development. In an interview with E! News, the actor revealed he will return alongside Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Don Cheadle, with filming anticipated to begin in 2026.

"The script is in great shape," Clooney told Variety, adding that producers are currently working on scheduling.

The Ocean's film series, beginning with 2001's Ocean's Eleven, chronicles Clooney's character Danny Ocean and his elite team of thieves as they execute complex, high-stakes heists worldwide.
