Pittsburgh:
Early Wednesday morning, an individual drove a vehicle into a security gate at the FBI facility in Pittsburgh, subsequently placed an American flag from the vehicle's back seat over the gate, and then fled the scene, according to officials.
The incident occurred approximately at 2:40 a.m., the FBI reported, and authorities have launched a search for the male suspect. Investigation teams, including bomb disposal units, were dispatched to the location.
"This incident is considered a targeted attack against the FBI," stated the agency in an online announcement. "No FBI personnel were injured."
Speaking to reporters, Christopher Giordano, assistant special agent in charge at the FBI's Pittsburgh office, noted that the vehicle appeared to display some form of message on one of its side windows.
Giordano revealed that the FBI was previously acquainted with the individual.
"He did come here to the FBI field office a few weeks ago to make a complaint that didn't make a whole lot of sense," Giordano explained.
