In a touching display of gratitude, a Gaza couple has named their newborn daughter "Singapore" as an expression of appreciation for the assistance provided by a Singapore-based charity during the ongoing conflict. The baby girl was born on October 16, according to information shared by Love Aid Singapore, a humanitarian organization led by Singaporean activist Gilbert Goh.

The infant's father, Hamdan Hadad, had worked as a cook for two years at Love Aid Singapore's soup kitchen in Gaza. The family selected the name to pay tribute to the country that offered support during their time of crisis.

Hamdan mentioned that his wife had depended on the soup kitchen for essential nutrition throughout her pregnancy, with the consistent meals helping her endure the war-induced famine amid the Israel-Hamas conflict.

"I'm happy, and I want to name her Singapore because I really love them," stated Hamdan while holding his newborn daughter.

Love Aid Singapore announced that the Palestinian newborn, weighing 2.7kg at birth, is the first to receive the name "Singapore." The organization shared her birth certificate to verify the naming. In its Instagram post dated October 18, Love Aid Singapore conveyed wishes for the baby's wellbeing and expressed hope that she would grow up in a "bright new world" characterized by a lasting ceasefire.

The video has subsequently gone viral, attracting warm wishes and heartfelt messages from individuals worldwide.

"May you grow up well, Baby Singapore, and visit us one day. we'll welcome you with open arms," commented one user.
