In Bladensburg, a shocking incident unfolded when a hit-and-run driver crashed into an outdoor birthday celebration near Washington, DC, on Saturday evening, leaving nine children and two adults injured, police reported.

According to statements from the Bladensburg Police Department and Prince George's County Fire and EMS Department, a young girl and a toddler sustained critical injuries from the collision in Maryland.

Social media footage captured the aftermath, showing a white tent with its front section destroyed on the lawn of a residential property.

Officials confirmed that seven additional children and two adults suffered serious injuries, though none were life-threatening. The children involved ranged from 2 to 9 years of age, as stated by Bladensburg Police.

Authorities reported that the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. The suspect remains at large, and investigators have not yet determined what caused the vehicle to veer off Maryland Highway 450 at approximately 10:15 pm Saturday.
