Former Iranian Ambassador to India Iraj Elahi concludes his diplomatic mission with a heartfelt tribute to bilateral relations, emphasizing the successful operationalization of Chabahar port, cultural affinities between the ancient civilizations, and the potential for enhanced people-to-people exchanges to strengthen the natural partnership between the two nations.

Iraj Elahi, who recently completed his diplomatic mission as Iran's Ambassador to India, expressed in a touching farewell message that India and Iran are natural partners due to their shared history and strategic interests.

In his note, Elahi highlighted that during his tenure, a significant achievement was the operationalization of the Chabahar port project, marking an important milestone in bilateral relations.

"I strongly believe that the inherent potential, cultural similarities, and mutual strategic independence position Iran and India as natural allies. I'm delighted that during my time here, our nations' cooperation on the strategic Chabahar port became operational—a gateway soon to be integrated with Iran's railway network, benefiting regional development and the global economy," he stated.

In his farewell message shared on social media, Elahi wrote: "As my diplomatic service in India concludes, I depart from this magnificent country with treasured and indelible memories. Throughout my stay, I consistently felt at home among India's hospitable and kind-hearted people. I have observed directly the persistent efforts of the great Indian nation and its government to achieve its deserved global position—an objective I am certain India will accomplish in the near future."

The ambassador expressed his admiration for India's extensive cultural heritage and acknowledged India's support for Iran during challenging times.

"During these years, I've had the opportunity to visit numerous regions and cities across India, exploring its rich cultural and historical traditions. I deeply sensed the lasting friendship between the people of Iran and India, who have supported each other throughout historical challenges," he remarked.

Elahi also extended an invitation to Indians to visit Iran and experience firsthand the civilizational connections between both nations.

"Importantly, notable progress was made in enhancing people-to-people connections. I cordially invite all Indian friends to visit Iran, personally discover its splendor, and experience the profound historical and cultural bonds between our two ancient civilizations," he added.

India and Iran enjoy a relationship spanning thousands of years of interactions. The present-day connection builds upon these historical and civilizational foundations, continuing to strengthen through high-level diplomatic exchanges, commercial partnerships, connectivity initiatives, cultural programs, and strong people-to-people relationships.
