New Delhi:

At the NDTV World Summit 2025 in Delhi, Britain's former prime minister Rishi Sunak revealed his thoughts on his post-political career path - whether he might return to politics, attempt another run for prime minister, or pursue teaching and consulting opportunities.

Sunak expressed genuine joy about reconnecting with family life, particularly spending more time with his two young daughters whom he rarely saw during his five years in office.

"My parents were disappointed I never became Dr Sunak, so I believe they would prefer Professor Sunak next, if possible," the former prime minister remarked with humor.

"I'm focused on remaining productive and useful, hoping to leverage my governmental experience alongside my background in business and technology to continue making meaningful contributions to the challenges we've discussed," he continued.

"I aim to use my experience to offer constructive input on addressing various challenges to help advance our societies and countries. I've returned to public policy work at Oxford University and Stanford University, both institutions where I previously studied."

"I must admit, university life is significantly more enjoyable without exams, which I'm thoroughly appreciating. However, I'm primarily spending more time at home in North Yorkshire, watching cricket. What I haven't mentioned yet - what I'm enjoying most - is being with our two young daughters, whom I've missed greatly over the past five years. Having this time with them now brings me tremendous joy," Sunak shared.

He added lightheartedly, "I hope this continues until they eventually grow tired of me and enter their teenage years."

Earlier this year in January, Sunak announced joining the University of Oxford's Blavatnik School of Government as a member of its World Leaders Circle, while also accepting a visiting fellowship at Stanford University's Hoover Institution, a California-based think tank.

Recently, Sunak disclosed his new roles as senior adviser to both Microsoft and AI startup Anthropic. He stated in a LinkedIn post that all earnings from these positions will be donated to The Richmond Project, a charitable organization he established with his wife Akshata Murty.

In his advisory capacity at Anthropic, Sunak will provide guidance on strategy, macroeconomic trends, and geopolitical developments. This role specifically focuses on global strategic matters rather than UK-specific policies, and includes restrictions preventing him from initiating contact with UK government officials on behalf of Anthropic.
