Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak offered thoughtful insights when asked during Friday's NDTV World Summit about whether his mother-in-law Sudha Murty or father-in-law Narayana Murthy provides better advice.
Sunak responded with appreciation, stating, "I receive different advice from both of them and I'm very fortunate to have their guidance."
He elaborated on his political philosophy, "We all have our dharma to fulfill. My purpose was resolving economic challenges. By the time I left office, inflation had returned to 2%. You must simply give your best. That's what my mother-in-law advises - do your best and then entrust it to your god."
Speaking about Sudha Murty's influence, Sunak shared, "What I've learned from my mother-in-law is extraordinary compassion. I see this quality in Akshata as well. My mother-in-law's ability to connect with people from all walks of life is remarkable, and I aspire to develop that skill."
Regarding Narayana Murthy's impact, Sunak acknowledged his pivotal role in his political journey: "My father-in-law was instrumental in encouraging my entry into politics. He told me politics was the best avenue to create meaningful change. The most important lesson I took from him was to strive to earn respect."
When asked why he encouraged his son-in-law to pursue a political career, Narayana Murthy expressed his admiration for Sunak, describing him as "intelligent and a man of principles."
Murthy elaborated, "He is intelligent, highly accomplished in his profession, a man of integrity and principles. He represents the ideal example of someone who should be in politics during these times."
