Rishi Sunak Excited to Meet PM Modi at NDTV World Summit 2025: Strengthening India-UK Connections

Former UK prime minister Rishi Sunak has arrived in Delhi to participate in the NDTV World Summit 2025, expressing enthusiasm about his attendance.

New Delhi:

Rishi Sunak, Britain's former prime minister, has expressed his excitement about participating in the NDTV World Summit scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Delhi.

In a video message released ahead of the event, Sunak mentioned his eagerness to connect with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is featured as one of the summit's key speakers.

"Hi India, this is Rishi Sunak. I am thrilled to be at NDTV's World Summit at the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. I'm looking forward to discussing the future of global growth with India's rising stars," Sunak stated in his message.

He added, "And of course, looking forward to seeing my good friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, and meeting the young leaders who are shaping the future. I'll see you there."

Prior to the summit, Sunak engaged with Union Health Minister JP Nadda as part of the 'Know BJP' initiative. Their discussions encompassed strengthening bilateral relations and India's innovative approaches to implementing technology in grassroots healthcare systems.

During their meeting, Nadda presented Sunak with a traditional shawl and a Himachali cap as they exchanged warm greetings.

Sunak, born to Indian parents in Southampton with ancestral connections to Punjab, made history as the first person of Indian origin to serve as Britain's prime minister from 2022 to 2024.

Embracing his Indian heritage, Sunak has advocated for stronger India-UK ties across economic, security, and scientific domains. The two nations have collaborated in finance, technology, healthcare, and education sectors, notably establishing the 'FinTech Bridge' connecting London and Mumbai.
