Netflix Partners with Spotify to Stream Popular Video Podcasts Starting 2026: A Strategic Content Expansion

Netflix announced on Tuesday a new distribution partnership with Spotify that will bring a collection of Spotify's most popular video podcasts to its streaming platform beginning in early 2026, aimed at expanding Netflix's entertainment offerings and attracting new viewers.

The initial lineup will feature prominent shows including "The Dave Chang Show" and "The Bill Simmons Podcast," though notably absent will be "The Joe Rogan Experience," which remains Spotify's globally top-ranked podcast.

This strategic expansion reflects Netflix's ongoing efforts to diversify its content beyond traditional scripted series, films, and reality programming by embracing the growing popularity of audio-visual podcast formats.

For Spotify, this collaboration presents an opportunity to significantly expand the audience reach for its creators by leveraging Netflix's extensive global subscriber base.

Both companies have not disclosed the financial details of this partnership arrangement.

Lauren Smith, Netflix's vice president of content licensing and programming strategy, stated: "As video podcasts continue to grow in popularity, our partnership with Spotify allows us to bring full video versions of these top shows to both Netflix and Spotify audiences."

The video podcast offering will first launch in the United States in early 2026, followed by a broader international rollout thereafter.

The curated content selection will encompass diverse genres including sports, culture, and true crime, featuring shows like "The Zach Lowe Show," "The Rewatchables," "The Big Picture," and "Serial Killers."

Roman Wasenmüller, Spotify's vice president and head of podcasts, emphasized that "This offers more choice to creators and unlocks a completely new distribution opportunity."
