Ukrainian cryptocurrency trader Konstantin Galich, known professionally as Kostya Kudo, was discovered deceased in his Lamborghini Urus on October 11 in Kyiv's Obolonskyi district with a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities found a registered firearm at the scene and are conducting a criminal investigation, though they suspect possible suicide.
According to the Kyiv Police Department's official Telegram channel, investigators are working to determine whether Galich's death was self-inflicted or involved external parties. Reports indicate that prior to his death, Galich had communicated to family members about experiencing depression due to financial difficulties and had sent what appeared to be farewell messages just a day before the tragic incident.
A statement released through Galich's official Telegram channel informed followers: "Konstantin Kudo tragically passed away. The causes are being investigated. We will keep you posted on any further news."
The timing of Galich's death coincided with a significant cryptocurrency market downturn following US President Donald Trump's announcement regarding a 100% tariff on Chinese imports. This market crash resulted in approximately $19 billion in leveraged positions being wiped out and over 1.6 million trading accounts facing liquidation. During this period, Bitcoin experienced a nearly 8% decline to approximately $111,500, while Ethereum dropped 12.7% to $3,778.31. Analysts have noted that this represents the largest liquidation event in cryptocurrency history, exceeding previous market crises including the 2020 COVID-related crash and the 2022 FTX collapse.
Galich, 32, had established himself as an influential figure in the global cryptocurrency community. He co-founded the Cryptology Key trading academy and had built a reputation for providing insightful analysis and strategic guidance on digital assets. His social media presence was substantial, with dedicated followers on platforms where he shared expertise on trading Bitcoin, Ethereum, and NFTs.
Through his Telegram and YouTube channels, Galich regularly discussed blockchain trends and the psychological aspects of trading, which contributed to his reputation as a rising star in the digital asset industry. He was also known for maintaining a luxurious lifestyle, evidenced by his collection of high-end vehicles including a 2020 Lamborghini Urus, a 2023 Ferrari 296 GTB, and a 2012 Mercedes-Benz 220 CDI.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death remains ongoing as the cryptocurrency community mourns the loss of one of its prominent members during a particularly volatile period in the market.
