Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued a firm statement on Sunday condemning what he termed "provocations" by Afghanistan following border clashes between the two nations overnight.
"There will be no compromise on Pakistan's defence, and every provocation will be met with a strong and effective response," declared Prime Minister Sharif in his official statement.
The Pakistani leader accused Taliban authorities in Afghanistan of allowing their territory to be used by "terrorist elements," escalating tensions between the neighboring countries.
Sharif's comments came in the wake of overnight border incidents that have further strained relations between Islamabad and Kabul.
