Zelensky Requests Trump to Broker Ukraine-Russia Peace Deal Following Middle East Success

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has asked Donald Trump to facilitate peace negotiations in Ukraine, similar to his diplomatic achievements in the Middle East. During a Saturday phone call, Zelensky expressed hope that Trump's conflict resolution skills could help end the Russian invasion that began in 2022. Ukraine:

During a Saturday phone conversation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appealed to Donald Trump to facilitate peace negotiations in Ukraine, drawing parallels to Trump's diplomatic efforts in the Middle East.

"If a war can be successfully resolved in one region, then it is certainly possible to end other conflicts as well - including the Russian war," Zelensky stated in a Facebook post following their discussion.

The relationship between these two leaders has improved significantly since February, when they engaged in a tense, widely-publicized meeting at the White House.

In recent months, Trump has expressed positive sentiments about Zelensky, referring to him as a "nice guy" and affirming his continued support for Ukraine, which has been defending itself against Russian invasion since 2022.

Prior to this phone call, the two leaders had met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York during September.
