A video captures tractors carving a significant message across a vast field in Israel.
New Delhi:
Just before the Nobel Peace Prize announcement, Israeli farmers demonstrated their support for US President Donald Trump by using tractors to create a massive message on farmland reading "Nobel 4 Trump."
The video shared on X shows several tractors methodically ploughing this message across an extensive field. The footage concludes with an aerial perspective that reveals the complete text. According to the caption, "A group of Yom Kippur War veterans plowed a message of gratitude to President Trump in the valley fields."
This tribute follows Trump's successful mediation of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The agreement forms part of Trump's comprehensive Gaza Peace Plan, unveiled on September 29, which aims to end the conflict and establish a framework for rebuilding and governing the Gaza Strip.
The peace plan includes provisions for a ceasefire, withdrawal of Israeli troops, and a hostage-prisoner exchange. Additionally, it requires Hamas to disarm and proposes that Gaza be governed by independent Palestinian leadership under international oversight.
A multinational force would be responsible for supervising humanitarian assistance and reconstruction efforts in the region.
On October 8, both Israel and Hamas accepted the initial phase of the plan, which primarily addresses the ceasefire and prisoner exchange. Israel's cabinet formally approved the agreement the next day, and the document was signed in Egypt on October 9. Negotiations regarding later stages, particularly Gaza's political future, continue.
During a Cabinet meeting on Thursday morning, Trump highlighted this agreement as part of his presidency's peace achievements. "We settled seven wars, or major conflicts, and this is number eight," he informed reporters. "The one that I thought would be the quickest of all would be Russia-Ukraine and I think that's going to happen, too."
Previously, in his September 23 address to the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Trump claimed that within seven months of taking office, his administration had resolved seven "unendable wars."
He enumerated conflicts he reportedly settled, including those between Cambodia and Thailand, Serbia, the Congo and Rwanda, Pakistan and India, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, and Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Trump has publicly stated that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his work on peace agreements such as the Abraham Accords and recent ceasefires as worthy of recognition. His administration has actively sought his nomination, with endorsements from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US Congressman Buddy Carter.
