A senior US official confirmed that "No US troops are intended to go into Gaza."
The United States has announced plans to deploy 200 military personnel as part of a multinational joint task force aimed at maintaining stability in Gaza. Two senior US officials clarified on Thursday that no American troops will be stationed within the Palestinian territory itself.
Speaking anonymously to reporters, the officials revealed that these 200 troops would form the core of an international task force including military representatives from Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and likely the United Arab Emirates.
While the exact deployment location for US troops remains undetermined, they will establish a joint control center to coordinate with Israeli forces and integrate other security personnel operating in Gaza to prevent potential clashes.
One official emphasized, "No US troops are intended to go into Gaza."
According to the officials, there is optimism that once implemented, the Gaza agreement will help reduce regional tensions and create favorable conditions for negotiating additional normalization agreements between Israel and Arab nations.
During his first term, US President Donald Trump brokered the Abraham Accords, which established normalization agreements between Israel and several nations including Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and Sudan.
The officials identified Saudi Arabia as a potential candidate for a similar agreement with Israel, along with Indonesia, Mauritania, Algeria, Syria, and Lebanon.
