Trump Intensifies Diplomatic Efforts with NATO Allies to End Ukraine-Russia Conflict

President Donald Trump declared on Thursday that the United States and NATO allies are intensifying efforts to bring an end to the Ukraine conflict, following unsuccessful peace negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Yeah, we are stepping up the pressure," Trump stated during an Oval Office meeting with Finnish President Alexander Stubb when questioned by an AFP journalist about increasing efforts toward reaching a deal.

"We're stepping it up together. We're all stepping it up. NATO has been great," the US President added.

Earlier this week, Trump successfully mediated a peace agreement in Gaza between Israel and Hamas, but has acknowledged that resolving the war initiated by Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine is proving to be more challenging.

Despite hosting Putin in Alaska during August, Trump failed to secure a breakthrough, and Russian attacks on Ukraine have since intensified.

On Wednesday, Russia announced that momentum toward achieving a peace agreement in Ukraine had significantly diminished following the meeting between the two leaders.

President Stubb expressed confidence that Trump would be able to facilitate a deal on Ukraine following his success with the Gaza agreement between Israel and Hamas.

"I think this one will be the next big one," Stubb told reporters during the meeting.
