Philip Green: Australia's Diplomatic Leader at NDTV World Summit 2025

Philip Green, the Australian High Commissioner to India, will be participating in the NDTV World Summit 2025 scheduled for October 17 in New Delhi. This prestigious two-day event brings together global leaders from various sectors including politics, science, technology, and business.

The summit will feature Green alongside Lindy Cameron, British High Commissioner to India, and Dr. Philipp Ackermann, German Ambassador to India, engaging in a significant discussion about shaping the future world order.

As a senior Australian diplomat, Philip Green possesses extensive international experience spanning four continents. His distinguished diplomatic career includes serving as ambassador or high commissioner to several countries including Germany, Singapore, South Africa, and Kenya. His appointment as High Commissioner to India came in June 2023.

Green has made substantial contributions to Australia's foreign policy development. He oversaw the implementation of Australia's Indo-Pacific Strategy in 2017 and led the development of the nation's Quad policy from 2017 to 2019.

His diplomatic accomplishments include finalizing the Enhanced Strategic Partnership with Germany and the Australia-Germany Hydrogen Accord in 2021. He also strengthened Australia-Singapore relations by concluding the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and upgrading the Free Trade Agreement in 2016.

Previously, Green served as international adviser to Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and as chief of staff to the foreign minister. He also headed the Secretariat for the Review of Australian Intelligence Agencies and received the Order of Australia Medal for his contributions during the Bali terrorist tragedy response.

Academically, Green holds a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney. He has also been awarded honorary degrees from both James Cook University and Murdoch University.

Green is married to Professor Susan Marks, who serves as a professor of international law at the London School of Economics and is a fellow of the British Academy.

In his current role as High Commissioner to India, which began in June 2023, Green is accredited to both India and Bhutan, serving as a non-resident ambassador to the latter. He is dedicated to enhancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and advancing the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement between Australia and India.
